General Questions & FAQs
Evergreen Power Solutions was established to help navigate the confusing world of electricity deregulation. We deliver a complete suite of services that includes negotiating great rates, creating monthly savings for its members, handling enrollment processes, strategic renewals, and exceptional hands on customer service at all times. Our industry experts monitor your electricity account and marketplace rate plans – in real time – to proactively bring you monthly savings, handle all questions, plan switches and eliminate hassle! We are headquartered in Dallas, TX.
The “Power to Choose” website was created by Public Utility Commission of Texas as a resource to assist Texans in shopping for low cost electricity. However, navigating the “Power to Choose” website (sometimes referred to as “Power to Confuse”) can be a confusing and time-consuming process. The majority of consumers don’t understand the retail electricity market and will often just pick a plan with the lowest rate per kWh thinking that it is the best deal. Then they forget about it. Electricity providers are in the business to make money and are very skilled at marketing plans that may be a good initial value but, in reality, have other variables that can be costly.
Evergreen, does it all for you. We find the great value plans in your area that fit your usage profile, handle the power company enrollment, continue to monitor the market for great rates upon plan expiration, then handle the renewal process and switching of electric companies, if applicable. Through it all, we offer exceptional personal customer service – you can even ask for our team members by name! –- to take the hassle and confusion out of shopping for electricity.
Unfortunately, we are not able to offer our services in regulated areas where there is only one electricity provider. However, members who live in regulated areas can still receive our account management services and be part of our loyalty program.

REP is short for “Retail Electric Provider”. REPs such as Champion Energy; TXU; GEXA ENERGY; RELIANT ENERGY; ALLIANCE, etc., buy wholesale electricity from a TDSP (Oncor, CenterPoint, AEP, TNMP) and then resell to its customers. There are more than 100 REPs in Texas.
Transmission/distribution service providers (TDSPs) own the electric generation facilities that distribute electricity in Texas. TDSPs are regulated by the Public Utility Commission of Texas (PUCT) and are required to provide non-discriminatory access to the grid. All electricity customers have two main charges on their bills: 1) the Energy charge (based on usage) from the REP, and 2) the Delivery charge from the TDSP.
Evergreen charges a $19.99 monthly fee for our services but no other add-ons or hidden fees. The electricity price we quote you is “all in” including the electricity charges and the Utility delivery charges. It is important to understand what is included when you receive quotes from REPs.
No, you never sign a contract with Evergreen. If you are not satisfied with Evergreen’s services, you can cancel our service at any time, with no penalty. However, when you join Evergreen, you’ll need to accept our terms and conditions giving us the authority to work on your behalf to set up and renew electricity service, manage your account, and communicate any issues with REPs. These terms remain in effect and our service is ongoing unless or until you cancel your Evergreen membership. If you are not 100% satisfied, you are free to cancel at any time with 30 days notice. NOTE: canceling Evergreen does not release you from your current electricity plan contract that we set up for you; switching providers prior to the contract expiration date may result in an early termination fee from the REP which you are responsible to handle.
Yes, all fixed-rate electricity plans have a contract for providing electricity service. The contract length is based on the plan and may or may not have an early termination fee if you cancel service before the contract end date.
Never say never but after many years of operations, and up to this point, the answer is No, we only select fixed rate plans for our members.
SWITCHING PROVIDERS AT CURRENT ADDRESS: If you are switching electricity providers at your current address, you do not need to cancel with your previous electricity provider. Evergreen will take care of all aspects of switching electricity service between providers. Evergreen will do everything for you. When your new service is set up by Evergreen, we will automatically cancel the previous plan.
MOVING TO A NEW ADDRESS: If you are a current Evergreen member and moving to a new address, we can handle the whole transition for you.
If you are moving to a new address and then becoming an Evergreen member, you will need to cancel the electricity at your old address (as Evergreen did not have authority to manage the account).
During enrollment, the REP may run a credit check to determine if a refundable deposit is required to set up new electricity service. If it is determined that a deposit is required, Evergreen will make the deposit payment for you by using the payment method that you provided upon signup.
In order to sign up for electricity service, most REPs require a Social Security Number and Date of Birth to run a credit check, to determine if a deposit is required upon account activation. Evergreen needs to provide this information to the REPs when setting up new service. NOTE: all personal information is completely encrypted and protected in our system. If you do not have a SSN or are coming from outside the US, please contact our customer support for help.
Evergreen takes all steps deemed reasonable to keep secure any personal information. Your information is encrypted and stored on secure servers that are protected in controlled facilities. We will not sell, rent or share personal information collected from you. Ever. However, certain third party agents performing services for the site sponsor may have access to the personally identifiable information in order to provide their service (i.e., REP’s).
Our enrollment team continually monitors the electricity marketplace. We continually work with many trustworthy REPs to ensure we are delivering great rates from companies that match our ethos for exceptional customer service. By leveraging our large membership base and industry contacts, we are able to negotiate great low-rate electricity plans that are not necessarily available to the general public on the REP websites.
Typically, we place our residential electricity members with electricity plans that range from 6, 9, 12 & 15 month contracts, so you could be switched 1-2x per year. We consider seasonality, market pricing and other trends to determine which plan is the best plan for our individual members’ circumstances.. And we always give the current provider the opportunity to match the plan we find. IF/when we find a better value for you, we will not hesitate to make the switch upon plan expiration. All these factors help guide us in selecting the optimal plan lengths for you.
For commercial electricity, we have access to plans that normally range from 12-36 months.
No, there will be no outages during the transition between REP providers.
Prior to your contract expiring, Evergreen researches the electricity marketplace looking for a great low rate plan for you. When the contract expires, we handle all the paperwork and switch you seamlessly into the new plan and provider. No outages or issues, just a great low rate plan we find specifically for you!
If you are planning to move, contact our Customer Service Team at 888.886.6586 or email cs@electricitymanagementservices.com and we will handle all aspects of the electricity service transition for you. That’s what we do!
Evergreen charges a membership fee of $19.99 per month for our services. The monthly membership fee is set up to be automatically charged at the beginning of each month and can be paid with VISA, MasterCard, or Bank ACH.
